History of The Stone Inn
The Stone Inn, a Grade II listed building, has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century, serving as a central hub for the local community.

Details from the early years are sparse, it may have been initially known as The Salutation Inn and was probably constructed not long after the local school and rebuild of the village church which occurred at the end of the 18th century.

It was for a long period known as 'The White Lion' - another pub 'The Red Lion' was a stones throw away in the village.
Fred and Ida were notable proprietors in the mid-20th century, contributing significantly to the pub's reputation and community presence.
In the 1970's the pub underwent a revamp increasing the space for patrons and at the end of the decade also underwent a name change to 'The Stone Inn'. (One suggestion for the name change was for the benefit of the Darts team who were confused with another 'White Lion' in nearby Brampton)
In 1983 Johnny Tranter took over the Stone after making a success of nearby Langley Hall, and it remains with the Tranter family to this day - Jane and Charlotte continuing a more than 40 year period of stability to this village icon.
